Engaging employers in schools and offering work-based learning opportunities are essential strategies for developing a skilled, ready-to-work labor force. With 74% of hiring managers reporting a significant skills gap in the workforce, there is a tremendous need for employer engagement in schools to help align curriculum with industry needs.

The Delaware Principal for a Day program aims to create a stronger connection between educators and the business community. Established in 1993 and hosted by the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s workforce development affiliate, The Partnership, Inc., the program strategically places business and community leaders in high schools across Delaware, including public, private, charter, and parochial schools.

By participating in this program, business leaders will experience a day-in-the-life of a principal and play a role in the development of our future workforce. These efforts lead to improved academic and career outcomes for students, help close the skills gap, and foster stronger partnerships between education and industry.
Save the date! Principal for a Day week is October 14 - 18, 2024.

Registration is now CLOSED for the 2024 program.
Assigned matches to be announced - Monday, Sept 24!
