The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce
takes pride in honoring its member businesses and organizations
for extraordinary accomplishments and model approaches to
business, management and quality in products and service. In
this tradition, the State Chamber recognizes small business
members in a big way through the Small Business Alliance Marvin
S. Gilman Superstars in Business Awards program.
The Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business
Awards, named for one of Delaware's leading small business
entrepreneurs, are presented to companies that have been
established for at least three years, have 150 employees or less
and are members of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.
Winners are chosen in categories based on the number of
employees per company, and one award is given to an outstanding
nonprofit corporation. In addition, Awards of Excellence are
given to deserving companies.
The Small Business Alliance
of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce celebrated 10
years of small business excellence in Delaware at
the Superstars in Business Awards luncheon on November 19, 2008
at the Hotel du Pont. The Small Business Alliance honored Albert
R. Morris of A.R. Morris Jewelers in Wilmington with the Marvin S. Gilman
Bowl, for his commitment to business and leadership.
The Gilman Bowl is named after Marvin S. Gilman,
who inspired the beginning of
the Superstars in Business Awards program in 1998. He was an
exemplary leader, a devoted and charitable humanitarian and a
paragon of small business in the State of Delaware. As the
Superstars in Business program celebrates its tenth anniversary
this year, it is fitting to recognize someone who embodies
Gilman’s legacy.
