The Partnership, Inc.
Making an Investment
in Your Business’s Future
The best investment any member of Delaware’s business community
can make is a pretty simple proposition: make a small commitment
to our school kids now -- or face the consequences later.
You can make that commitment through The Partnership, Inc., an
affiliate of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. Its
innovative and time-tested programs are designed to help you
help our kids to succeed, and helping our children to succeed is
the surest way to help your business succeed.
Partnership Programs
Business Mentoring Alliance: The
Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware Mentoring
Council have formed a Business Task Force in an effort to
strengthen the youth mentoring initiative throughout the state.
The collaboration will help increase the number of partnerships
between businesses and individual schools in Delaware. In turn,
these partnerships will support mentoring programs in schools,
increasing sustainability for the future.
Job Corps: The Delaware State Chamber
of Commerce is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's
Center for Workforce Preparation to promote a new Job Corps
center in Wilmington, Delaware and gain support and involvement
from the Delaware business community. The Wilmington Center will
function as a satellite center to the high performing
Philadelphia Job Corps Center and will provide education and job
training for 125 students in the trades of facility maintenance,
culinary arts, business / clerical and health occupations.
MAKE It!
Manufacturing Camp: This unique summer camp is designed to
expose ninth and 10th graders to the field of manufacturing
through hands-on activities and tours of manufacturing
facilities.
Principal for a Day:
The Principal for a Day program was introduced in 1993 under the
Superstars in Education awards program umbrella. Recognizing a
need to foster working relationships between business leaders
and educators, the State Chamber created this program to provide
CEOs and business leaders an opportunity to spend the day in a
Delaware school carrying out the daily responsibilities of a
principal.
Superstars in Education: Superstars in Education is a
statewide awards program that seeks to promote and share
programs and best practices in education that show measurable
results and raise student achievement. Funded by the business
community, the Superstars in Education program seeks to award
Delaware educators who have implemented and sustained a
creative, unique program, or a teaching practice that works to
raise student achievement and test scores. To view descriptions of past winning programs, click

Teacher Externship Program: The Externship Program aims to
bring real world experience to the classroom by giving educators
the opportunity to see how the curricular areas and the
standards to which they teach relate to the world of work.
Educators learn about the business community and its expectation
of future employees and what teachers can do to help students
understand the world of work. |
