2007 Superstars in Business
The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce takes pride in
honoring its member businesses and organizations for
extraordinary accomplishments and model approaches to business,
management and quality in products and service. In this
tradition, the State Chamber recognizes small business members
in a big way through the Small Business Alliance Marvin S.
Gilman Superstars in Business Awards program.
The Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Awards, named for
one of Delaware's leading small business entrepreneurs, are
presented to companies that have been established for at least
three years, have 150 employees or less and are members of the
Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. Winners are chosen in
categories based on the number of employees per company, and one
award is given to an outstanding nonprofit corporation. In
addition, Awards of Excellence are given to deserving companies.
Winners received the Marvin S. Gilman Superstars
in Business award during a luncheon ceremony at the Hotel du
Pont’s Gold Ballroom on November 5, 2007.
Dr. Patrick D. Harker, who took
over as the 26th President of the University of Delaware on July
1, 2007, was the keynote speaker. Prior to his appointment
at the University of Delaware, Harker served as Dean of the
Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Under his
leadership, Harker oversaw an annual budget of more than $270
million and an endowment fund exceeding $600 million.
