New Details for Loss Prevention Conference
The Mid-Atlantic Loss Prevention Conference set for May in
Annapolis has been cancelled, and it will be rescheduled. Retailers still have the
chance to attend the National Retail Federation’s annual Loss
Prevention Conference and EXPO June 23-25 at the Orange County
Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Guests will hear from retail executives at
companies like Circuit City, Sears Holdings, Best Buy, Macy’s,
Wal-Mart and Walgreen’s. In addition to educational sessions
and forums lead by these companies, attendees will also hear

Addressing $40 Billion in Hidden
Credit Card Fees
The Credit Card Fair Fee Act, an attempt by Congress to
address credit card interchange fees, was hailed by the
National Retail Federation (NRF) as landmark antitrust
legislation. The new act was introduced by the House Judiciary
Committee in early March as a result of testimony to Congress
from the NRF and Merchants Payment Coalition. Click

Continue Spending on Essentials
Despite gloomy
economic forecasts, the National Retail Federation reports that
retail industry sales for February rose 6.3 percent unadjusted
over last year. While sales are down in electronic, appliance
and furniture sectors,
sales are up at clothing and accessory
stores by 6.7 percent from last year and by 9.0 percent
unadjusted from last year at health and personal care stores.
