Profile: AGS Keeps Current with 'Lean'
Associates Graphic Services (AGS), a provider of digital,
on-demand technology solutions and conventional printing with
about 70 employees, began its conversion to Lean manufacturing
under the guidance of company President Charlie Copeland when
it moved to a new building in 2002. It was a change that
started the AGS transformation to a leading player in Delaware

Kraft
Foods Plans Dover Plant Expansion
Kraft Foods will expand its production lines at the Dover
manufacturing facility. The expansion will result in 40 new
sustainable-wage jobs and an additional capital investment in
state-of-the-art production equipment and employee training.
The expansion plans include a multi-million dollar capital
investment for the acquisition of new manufacturing and
packaging equipment. The Delaware Economic Development Office
awarded Kraft Foods a Competitiveness Fund grant in the amount
of $708,000 to help offset the capital expenditures for the
expansion. The investment will generate an additional economic
impact of $8.5 million, bringing the Kraft Foods’ total
economic contribution to more than $60 million.

of Labor Highlights Employment Trends
The Delaware Department of Labor released employment
statistics that show a slight decrease in the manufacturing
sector. Manufacturing employment decreased from 34 percent in
February 2008 to 33.7 percent in March 2008. This follows the
trend for all non-agricultural employment, which decreased
slightly more than one percent during the same time period.

NAM Releases Economic Impact Study
The National Association of Manufacturers released an economic
impact study assessing the potential national and state
economic impacts resulting from proposed climate change
legislation, America's Climate Security Act of 2007 (S. 2191),
authored by U.S. Senators Joseph Lieberman and John Warner.
The U.S. Senate is expected to debate the legislation in June

DuPont Exec. V.P. to Speak at Leadership Luncheon
Ellen Kullman, Executive Vice President for DuPont, will be the
keynote speaker at the State Chamber's Leadership Luncheon on
May 13 at the University & Whist Club in Wilmington.
Kullman began
climbing the ranks at DuPont in 1988 as a marketing manager,
and since then she's been named one of Fortune Magazine’s
