Message
from the DRC Chairman, Tom Zapf
As
we move into the holidays and the new year, the Delaware Retail
Council
(DRC) is grateful that Delaware's elected leadership is
reasonable and approachable and can be counted on to use common
sense when enacting legislation in Delaware.
Retail sales will play a role in driving the state out of the
current economic downturn. With one in five jobs dependant on the retail
sector, the DRC will work carefully with Governor-elect Jack Markell and both houses to insure that we continue the
valuable partnership that has been such a critical success in
the past. Bringing back a robust Delaware economy is to the
advantage of every State Chamber member, and DRC
members will be active in communicating with our leaders so
that this goal can be achieved as soon as possible.
The DRC encourages every retailer to join the
council and build an even greater voice in promoting the
benefits of retail in Delaware. To learn more, call the State
Chamber at (302) 655-7221.

Shoppers Think Retailers Have Fair Policies, Study Finds
This holiday season, many retailers are adjusting their return
policies to be more accommodating to holiday returns and
shoppers are holding up their end of the bargain by giving gift
receipts with holiday gifts. According to the National Retail
Federation’s 2008 Holiday Returns Survey, nearly nine out of 10
Americans (87.2 percent) feel retailers’ return policies are
fair.
