The Small Business Alliance represents all businesses with one to 150 employees, a solid majority of the State Chamber membership. It is an active, influential community of business leaders who focus on the needs and issues of small business.
The Alliance, with its own by-laws, Board of Managers, and committee structure, offers strength in numbers, the security of being a part of a powerful and influential organization, savings on exclusive Chamber member benefits, and special events and programs for small business owners and employees.
Here is a sampling of what we do for small business:
Small Business Events
- The Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business awards program recognizes and celebrates small business excellence at an annual luncheon. Winning companies are publicized in every State Chamber news vehicle – in print, e-news and on the Web site.
Find out more about our Superstars in Business Awards program.
- Statewide Networking Events connect small business Chamber members with face-to-face opportunities to conduct business with more and larger businesses.
Committee Activity
- The Legislative Committee tackles issues and pending legislation, making sure that Delaware remains not just business-friendly, but small business-friendly
- The Education & Development Committee lines up workshops and Webinars tailored to the needs and the budgets of small businesses.
- The Benefits & Services Committee works to bring quality benefits and group savings to Chamber members. The State Chamber’s Health Care Plan underwritten by Blue Cross Blue Shield is an exclusive member benefit and a valuable savings opportunity for small business employers.
- The Women in Business Committee promotes Delaware women in business through networking, education, legislative advocacy and information exchange by providing connections to accomplished women leaders in business and legislature.
- The Young Executives Committee gathers young professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 to provide professional development and opportunities for involvement in the Delaware business community.
Small Business Communications
- The Small Business Alliance quarterly e-Newsletter delivers current, relevant small business news and information to Chamber members.
- Social Media levels the playing field for small business communicators. Contributions to the State Chamber’s blog, Twitter, Facebook or Linked In pages give businesses valuable online presence.
- The Chamber’s Small Business Alliance is a conduit of referrals – business to business, business to government, Chamber to Chamber, Chamber to small business resource organizations – by phone, e-news, magazine, Web and Twitter.
