The Small Business Alliance is the Delaware State Chamber's affiliate whose primary focus is fostering the growth and success of Delaware's small businesses. Making up more than 80 percent of the State Chamber's membership, small businesses are an important voice to the Chamber's yearly agenda.
The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Alliance serves Delaware businesses of fewer than 150 employees by providing leadership in legislative advocacy to ensure the business climate in Delaware is conducive to the support of existing and newly created small businesses in a dynamic economy, safeguarding their long-term competitiveness and the retention of private-sector jobs. The Small Business Alliance will also deliver programs, services, communications and networking opportunities, all focused on enhancing the continued success of member businesses.
The SBA will:
- Provide access to all State Chamber programs, events and business information.
- Foster communications between the State Chamber Board and its small business members.
- Lobby on behalf of its members, urging for legislation that is beneficial as well as not burdensome or harmful to small businesses.
- Offer valuable networking opportunities with business leaders and elected officials.

The Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business awards program recognizes and celebrates small business excellence at an annual luncheon. Winning companies gain enormous visibility in the community upon winning this award. The State Chamber also publicizes winners in its award winning Delaware Business magazine, through press releases and throughout the state with Superstars on the Road. Find out more about our Superstars in Business Awards program.
The Small Business Conference & End-of-Session Legislative Brunch, held in Dover each year, combines a small business trade show with a legislative wrap-up by the State's Senate President Pro Tempore and Speaker of the House. Find out more about our Small Business Conference & End-of-Session Legislative Brunch.
Small Business Day in Dover brings small business owners to Legislative Hall to attend a Delaware House Small Business Caucus meeting and to discuss legislative issues around small business. The day emphasizes the importance of getting to know not only the legislators representing the district in which you live but also the legislators that represent the district in which you work, because the strongest voice in Legislative Hall is yours.
Small Business Saturdays in Delaware
The campaign to recognize and support local businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving has taken hold across our country. Now part of the annual Black Friday dialogue, Small Business Saturday is an opportunity to remind people about the important role that small businesses play in our state. Rather than focus on one Saturday in the month of November, Delmarva Broadcasting Company and the Small Business Alliance of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce are making the first Saturday of every month “Small Business Saturday in Delaware.”
